Siryum Supernova: The Invisible Price of Beauty on the Blue Flower’s Global Route from Africa to Amsterdam

A Visual Investigation into the Supply Chain of the Blue Houseplant Flower

Behind the elegance of Siryum Supernova, the blue houseplant flowers of African origin, hides a production chain made of violent contrasts. In a torrid continent where over ninety million specimens are grown each year for the global market, beauty becomes a commodity that travels at a frantic pace. Through my lens, I documented the paradox of an industry that, despite moving immense volumes, gives workers a minimal livelihood: just 60 cents a day. This visual story follows the flower's journey, from the growing fields of Dar es Salaam to Amsterdam, the beating heart of international trade, exposing the distortions of a global system.
