The Last Stop: Eidomeni | Greece-Macedonia

Chronicle of a Border Between Waiting and Survival

Eidomeni.

A Reportage between Image and Video Testimony
  • The Aesthetics of Limbo: The photographic narrative focuses on the human impact of the news story. I sought to capture the brutal contrasts of Eidomeni: the coldness of the barbed wire that cuts through the landscape and the warmth of the fires lit for warmth; the tired gaze of the adults and the surprising ability of children to find play among the railway tracks. Every photograph aims to restore dignity to its subjects, transforming the news report into an empathetic story.

  • Video Storytelling: The Sound of Reality: The video component complements the photographic shot, conveying the temporal and sonic dimension of the camp. Through moving images and a spare edit, I wanted to convey the rhythm of waiting, the sound of footsteps on stone and the voices of a crowd asking only to continue their journey. The video thus becomes a necessary document for immersing oneself in the atmosphere of those unrepeatable moments.

Documenting History in Real Time

Creating “The Last Stop” meant confronting a raw reality, putting technique at the service of documentary truth. The integration between fotografia e video was born from the need to leave no room for indifference, offering a complete and honest view of one of the most complex chapters of our recent history. My commitment was to remain a discreet and rigorous witness, giving a visual voice to those who, at that moment, had none.
