Peru is a land that defies gravity and logic, where history is not kept in books but carved into the mountains. “Peru” is a profound visual investigation that crosses the extreme diversity of this country: from the snow-capped peaks of the Cordillera to the fertile valleys of the Incas, all the way to the power of the Ocean. Through my lens, I sought to document the ancestral bond that unites the Peruvian people with their roots. I wanted to tell the story of a geography whose strength shapes the soul, turning every shot into a testimony of spiritual resilience and age-old beauty.
The Aesthetics of the Sacred: The Breath of the Andes: The photographic research in the highlands focuses on the majesty of the peaks and glacial lakes. I worked with the crystalline light of high altitude to enhance the verticality of the landscapes and the whiteness of the eternal snows. Every shot seeks to convey the sensation of a suspended world, where the thin air and the silence of the pastures create a mythical atmosphere. Here, photography becomes a tribute to "Pachamama," Mother Earth, capturing the immensity of a nature that inspires respect and devotion.
The Reportage of Humanity: Quechua Roots and Daily Life: In this story, the camera meets the gazes and colors of the local people. I documented life in the markets, the work in the agricultural terraces, and the dignity of traditional dress. It is not just a journey among ruins, but an anthropological document on a living culture that inhabits the stones of its ancestors with disarming naturalness. Every image bears witness to the persistence of ancient wisdom, manifested in vibrant textiles and the simple gestures of those who safeguard the legacy of an empire.
The Power of the Single Shot: Crystallizing Flight and the Horizon: Entrusting the narrative exclusively to still photography, I wanted to isolate moments of absolute visual power: the flight of a condor over the Colca Canyon or the solitude of a boat on the desert coast. Without the aid of video or sound, every image forces the observer to feel the weight of history and the energy of the elements. The purity of photographic language allows one to freeze the instant when man becomes small before the infinite, transforming the reportage into a contemplative journey into the deep heart of South America.
Creating this project in Peru meant climbing not only mountains, but centuries of history. This photographic story stems from the need to offer an honest testimony to a land that is, at the same time, sanctuary and home. My commitment was to place technique at the service of a visceral story, celebrating the magnificence of the landscapes as much as the inner strength of the people: the true, tireless guardians of this marvelous and mysterious heritage that is Peru.
