In the blinding expanses where water evaporates to make way for mineral, a ritual of toil and precision unfolds that has endured for centuries. “Salt Processing” is a profound visual investigation documenting the extraction and refining of what was once called “white gold.” Through my lens, the salt pans become a metaphysical landscape, where the sun's reverberation on the crystals meets sun-scorched skin and the rhythmic gestures of the workers. I wanted to crystallize the contrast between the dazzling beauty of the salt mounds and the harsh reality of exhausting manual labor, restoring dignity to those who transform a natural element into a vital resource.
The Aesthetics of Reflection: Absolute White and Geometries: The photographic research focuses on breaking down the landscape into geometric shapes. I worked with extreme exposure to capture the texture of the salt and the play of mirrors in the evaporation ponds.
